Testing Options
What do these tests assess?
Broadly, as part of this health screening, a number of key systems and functions are examined, directly or indirectly, to give a picture of how your body is functioning and where imbalances may be affecting your energy, metabolism and overall health.
Blood health
A full blood count provides insight into red and white blood cells. This helps assess oxygen delivery, immune activity and patterns that may be linked to nutrient deficiencies such as iron, vitamin B12 or folate.
Blood sugar regulation and insulin resistance
Markers such as glucose, HbA1c and, where included, fasting insulin help assess how well the body is managing blood sugar. Changes here can develop gradually and may contribute to energy dips, cravings, weight gain and longer-term metabolic health concerns.
Kidney function and hydration
Kidney markers reflect how effectively the body is filtering waste products and maintaining fluid balance. Changes may be linked to hydration status, medication use or underlying metabolic factors.
Liver function
The liver plays a central role in metabolism, nutrient processing and hormone regulation. When under strain, it releases enzymes into the blood, which can provide useful insight into metabolic health and lifestyle influences.
Cholesterol and lipid balance
A lipid profile helps assess patterns associated with cardiovascular and metabolic health. It is the balance between the different components that provides the most useful information, rather than a single number.
Inflammation
Markers such as high-sensitivity CRP provide an indication of low-grade inflammation, which is often linked to fatigue, recovery, metabolic health and long-term disease risk.
Uric acid
Uric acid is commonly associated with gout, but it can also provide useful insight into metabolic health. Elevated levels may be linked to insulin resistance, diet, alcohol intake, medication use and broader metabolic strain.
Iron status
Iron studies assess both iron stores and transport. Low levels can contribute to fatigue, reduced stamina and poor concentration, often before anaemia is apparent.
Vitamin and mineral status
Key nutrients such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate and magnesium are assessed, as these play essential roles in energy production, immune function and nervous system health.
Hormonal health
Sex hormones such as oestradiol, FSH and LH in women, or testosterone in men, provide context for energy levels, body composition, mood and overall metabolic health.
Thyroid function
The thyroid regulates metabolism, energy levels and weight. Imbalances can present subtly, often as fatigue, weight changes or reduced resilience.
A practical note
You may simply be curious about what is happening in your body, or you may have symptoms that do not quite make sense. Blood testing can provide useful insight into how these systems are functioning. As with all testing, results are most meaningful when interpreted alongside your symptoms, lifestyle and nutrition, helping guide practical and personalised next steps.
